Inter Miami’s cinematic win against Orlando City SC sent every soccer fan into a frenzy. 32-year-old Inter Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman was also one among us. His happiness for Miami’s qualification was so high that it spilled over to his social media. “Unreal,” wrote Marsman on his Instagram story, accompanied by a face emoji with hearts for eyes.
Unfortunately, that was his last social media activity as an Inter Miami player, as two hours later, the Dutch goalkeeper’s contract was terminated by David Beckham and Inter Miami. Interestingly, the termination comes after Nick’s interview on ESPN with June, where he didn’t feel Miami had the infrastructure to welcome Messi.
“Personally I think this club is not ready for Messi’s arrival,” Marsman said. “We only have a temporary stadium where everyone can walk on the field, without a security fence. We also left for the stadium without security. I don’t think they are ready,” stunningly said Marsman criticizing his club’s ambitions. However, as per reports, this is not the real reason behind Marsman’s contract termination.

Inter Miami’s transfer window this summer has arguably been the best among all MLS teams. The David Beckham-owned side made 6 key signings over the transfer window, including the legendary trio from Barcelona – Lionel Messi, Sergio Busquets, and Jordi Alba. Unfortunately, as the popular saying goes, one man’s loss is another man’s gain.
As these six signings picked up six international spots for Miami, someone had to get the axe. Sadly, Miami goalkeeper Nick Marsman was the unlucky guy. Apart from not being a starter, Marsman was earning too much for a backup keeper. His departure hence freed up nearly $587,000 in budget space and vacated an international roster spot.
