However, Al Zaeem’s unbeaten run in SPL was in jeopardy after they found themselves trailing against the previous title holders. Al Hilal defeated Al Ittihad in SPL with a triumphant performance against Karim Benzema’s side on Friday. But Neymar could not yet make his debut with his new Saudi side amidst his injury concerns. However, the Brazilian icon took to social media to show his support for the team after they outshined their rivals in the Prince Abdullah Al-Faisal stadium in Jeddah.

Al Zaeem produced a historic stint in the most anticipated game of SPL, which turned out to be a nail-biting affair till the very end of the tie. Al Hilal, with the support of their new signing, secured a victory against Al Ittihad in front of 23,743 away fans. On this occasion, Neymar Jr. shared a story on Instagram to express fondness for his new team. The ex-PSG star said, “Nice work team”.

Neymar joined the Riyadh-based club in this transfer window with a record $300 million deal after spending years in the European leagues. However, the former Barcelona forward had a sustained muscular problem before the start of the season and was yet to take the field for Al Hilal.

Meanwhile, the newly signed Serbian international quickly proved his worth and helped Al Hilal temporarily cement the top spot in SPL this season.

Al Hilal was currently in first place in the league with 13 points just a point ahead of Al Ittihad. Neymar’s side won four games and drew one without any loss in the league. In the game, the former Saudi League winner was two goals ahead in the first half against Al Zaeem with a 3-1 lead. Furthermore, Mitrovic showed his exquisite skills with a hat trick that turned the tide of the match in the favor of Al Hilal.

Al Hilal’s coach Jesus deployed an offensive strategy with Brazilian Michel and Milinkovic Savic in more defensive roles while Malcom and Mitrovic propelled forward to create a chance in the attacking third. Karim Benzema’s goal was not enough to seal the game with missed chances and poor defending that cost a 4-3 loss to Neymar’s side. Fans and the club were eagerly anticipating more competitive performances as the Saudi Pro League progressed.
