Cristiano Ronaldo‘s stint at Juventus was one to forget according to a former Juventus president. This was before the Portuguese superstar’s move to Manchester United and eventually to Al Nassr, where he currently plies his trade. Despite that, Ronaldo scored 101 goals in 134 games for the Bianconeri exceeding his xG average of 82.69 goals over the course of his 3 seasons at the Italian club.
Ronaldo won two Serie A titles, two Supercoppa Italiana trophies, and one Coppa Italia, making it a 5-trophy haul in his time in Turin. However, former Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli, has recounted a story about the Portuguese icon and said that Ronaldo’s “arrival at Juventus was wrong.” This comes shortly after news that Ronaldo told his current club Al Nassr that he plans to only retire in 2027 with the 2026 FIFA World Cup in mind.

Ronaldo’s stint at Juve was, perhaps, a success in most people’s eyes but not for ex-Juve boss Giovanni Cobolli Gigli. This is according to a report in the Italian media outlet Il Pallon Gonfiato.
Speaking about a terrible gesture made by Ronaldo, former Juventus president Giovanni Cobolli Gigli said, “Ronaldo? I remember it, a ridiculous thing. I don’t want to take credit, however, I was one of the few who said that Cristiano Ronaldo’s arrival at Juventus was wrong. He was living on the yatch when Sarri visited him in a suit and tie to introduce himself, a ridiculous thing. Sarri in the middle of the sea, in a suit and tie, him going on Ronaldo’s boat and him waiting for him in a bathing suit. Things that cannot be done, they are unacceptable.”
“Mistakes have been made in this regard, including communication. The management of Juventus in my humble opinion was not in line with what should be the management of a company like Juventus, which is listed on the stock exchange,” he added.
This news has only surfaced now, but Ronaldo has been busy trying to negotiate a contract extension at Al Nassr, a place where it looks like he’s enjoying his soccer.

Cristiano Ronaldo eyes contract extension at Al Nassr with plans to play in 2026 FIFA World Cup
As we reported earlier, Cristiano Ronaldo has been speaking to the Al Nassr chiefs to renew his $500 million contract, after suggesting that he’s aiming to retire only in 2027. The Portuguese icon has also suggested that he wants to be fit enough to play for his home country at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
But Ronaldo, who is 38 at the moment, will be 41 by the time the tournament kicks off in the USA, Canada, and Mexico. Nevertheless, Ronaldo has been known to turn back the clock and still deliver on the pitch despite his age, so ruling Ronaldo out of playing at the 2026 World Cup would certainly be a mistake.
