Over the years, Cristiano Ronaldo has established a never-ending legacy for himself. Before Al-Nassr, he went on to represent quite a few soccer clubs, namely Manchester United, Juventus, Real Madrid, and Sporting CP. While his tenure in Italy was short and sweet, he became a fan favorite at the Allianz too.

However, the Portuguese soccer veteran’s memories from Italy will now not be the most pleasant. His elder brother is preparing to go on trial in June over a major fake jersey scandal.

The news about the trial emerges just hours after he signed a mega endorsement deal with a popular fitness-oriented company.

Why is Ronaldo’s brother go on trial?

Ronaldo’s tenure with Juventus spanned from 2018 to 20. Upon arriving in Italy, the fans welcomed him with utmost respect due to his stature and abilities. However, the soccer veteran’s legacy incurred a minor stain due to the current circumstances. The person in the limelight is Hugo dos Santos Aveiro.

The incident reportedly dates back to 2019. After years, the judicial authorities in Turin decided to move forward with the proceedings. Hugo will present himself in court on June 20. During his brother’s time in Italy, Hugo’s company Mussara signed a $538 million merchandizing deal with the Italian company Turin Pegasus.

This deal was mainly over the distribution of Ronaldo’s merchandise. Pegasus would produce the shirts and sell them online. However, these jerseys were deemed fake after they replaced the original Adidas logo with the ‘CR7 Museum’ logo. Interestingly, Hugo also manages the CR7 Museum. Juventus seized more than 13,000 fake ‘Ronaldo’ jerseys. However, everyone involved in the deal suddenly looked the other way.

Mussara denied any partnership with Pegasus, while the latter argued that Ronaldo’s brother authorized the inscription of the ‘CR7 Museum’ logo. In the end, Pegasus simply decided to sue Hugo’s company while also claiming that Hugo also sold these same jerseys at the soccer veteran’s museum in Funchal.
