Neymar Jr., who has been recovering from injury for months, finally made his highly anticipated debut in the Saudi Pro League and the AFC Champions League. Although he didn’t score, his two assists certainly helped Al Hilal secure a 6-1 victory in SPL. While there is concern about another potential injury, Al Hilal has been dealt a blow with the departure of one of its key players.
Al Hilal made headlines this summer with the signing of high-profile players such as Ruben Neves, Aleksandar Mitrovic, Kalidou Koulibaly, and Neymar. However, to make room for the new foreign signings and adhere to the 8 foreign players in the team policy, the club had to bid farewell to some of their existing squad members. And one of the casualties of this rule is 31-year-old Jang Hyun-soo.

Jang Hyun-soo, a South Korean soccer player, joined Al-Hilal Saudi Arabia during the 2019 summer transfer period, leaving Tokyo FC behind. He quickly became an integral part of the team, leading them to three consecutive league titles and two AFC Champions League titles. However, his time with the club has come to an end.
On September 20th, following Al-Hilal’s Champions League draw against Navbahor, Jang visited the club’s headquarters to bid farewell to his teammates. Hyun-Soo was warmly welcomed by the Al Hilal players, who engaged in friendly conversations with him, accompanied by smiles and laughter. The emotional farewell marked the end of an era for the defender and the club.

It is noteworthy, that the past few months have been challenging for Jang. He had to undergo a treatment program for a benign tumor in the lymph nodes. Jang’s departure comes at a crucial time for Al-Hilal, as they prepare for their second AFC Champions League match against Nassaji Mazandaran. Losing such an experienced and talented player can be a big blow to the team’s dynamics. What could be another big blow to the team is the threat of another injury that looms over Neymar.

Neymar, unfortunately, suffered a severe ankle injury back in February, which has kept him off the field for quite some time. Even after his arrival at Al Hilal, he had to miss out on four games due to this setback. However, there was a glimmer of hope when Neymar made a comeback during the 64th minute of a game against Al Riyadh. To everyone’s delight, his team won by a resounding 6-1.
In another significant development, he started in an AFC Champions League match for the first time. Unfortunately, the winger couldn’t manage to score as the game ended in a 1-1 draw. Sadly, it seems that Neymar might have hit another roadblock on his path to recovery as he recently suffered a minor bruise. He is reportedly working closely with technical trainer Ricardo Rosa for his rehabilitation. Hopefully, it’s nothing major and the 31-year-old is available in the upcoming matches.
