Cristiano Ronaldo mourned for the devastating casualties that occurred in Morocco after the massive earthquake late on Friday evening. Both CR7 and Lionel Messi made touching gestures on social media to support the Moroccan civilians. Amidst this instance, CR7 had to return to Riyadh, to his club Al Nassr, amidst Portugal’s Euro qualifier games.

The earthquake recorded 6.8 on the Richter scale that hit Ighil into the Hauz of Morroco. Following the catastrophic incident, soccer stars expressed condolences as the death toll exceeded  2000. Meanwhile, Ronaldo was forced back to Al Nassr after offering assistance to the victims in his hotels across the Middle East.

The Portuguese legend had a successful campaign so far in EUFA Euro qualifiers in the international break. However, Ronaldo reportedly departed from the national team to jet off 3,370 miles back to Al Nassr after sharing lunch with his Portuguese compatriots. CR7 made an early departure with the yellow card he received during the qualifier match, suspending his involvement in the next game against Luxembourg.

Ronaldo’s side led Group J with 15 points in just 5 games. In between the national commitments, the soccer stars did not hold back in expressing grief for Morocco in the aftermath of the earthquake that affected the civilians. Many penned on social media to share their heartfelt message while others used different methods to demonstrate their solidarity.

Soccer legends react to the catastrophic disaster

Lionel Messi, the Argentine talisman extended a heartfelt message for the people of Morocco. La Pulga wrote on his Instagram post, “My condolences to all the families of the victims of the earthquake in Morocco and all the strength for the injured and the people who were affected by the terrible catastrophe.

Meanwhile, CR7 converted his 174-room hotel in the Middle East into a site of relief center to provide shelter to refugees near the Marrakesh border. Ronnie kept the doors of his hotels open for all to assist the civilians in these dire circumstances. Numerous organizations were engaging to provide relief and monitor the well-being of the victims to support them in the days ahead.
