A World Cup with an inspiring story and a stunning goal is always incomplete. Sit tight, as you will get to witness both at the same time. This one comes from the tournament’s latest fixture between Germany and Columbia. Both sides of Group H locked horns to play their second group stage fixture.

Surprisingly, the game ended in Columbia’s favor, as they won 2-1 against the Germans. However, it isn’t the scoreline; rather, it’s the goal that will drop your jaws. Apparently, Columbia’s 18-year-old starlet Linda Caicedo took the limelight as she scored the most stunning goals of the tournament so far.

As you can see, after receiving the ball via a deflection, she quickly sprinted near the goal while drawing two defenders, who were beaten by clever roulette as she quickly sent a beautiful curler into the top right corner. Indeed, it was quite a solo effort from the teenage star. To make things sound more special, apparently, Caicedo defeated ovarian cancer after she was diagnosed with it at the age of 15.

Moreover, the story makes the goal even more special. Remarkably, her goal broke the deadlock and was the second of her tournament, having scored earlier against South Korea. However, before the match, she shockingly collapsed.

Shockingly collapses on the training ground

Just two days after opening her account at the World Cup, a bone-chilling incident unfolded involving Caicedo. During Thursday’s training session, while training with her teammates before the emphatic clash against Germany, the forward collapsed on the field out of nowhere. She gradually came to a halt, placing a hand on her chest before lying down on the pitch. Her teammates and medical staff swiftly approached to offer assistance.

Soon the player was conscious and normally resumed her training. When asked about the reason for her collapse, coach Nelson Abadia insisted that the alarming episode was partly attributed to the pressure of participating in her inaugural Women’s World Cup. Abadia further added that she was “stressed” regarding her tournament and that it was rather just an “incident.” Nevertheless, it’s good to see her fit and healthy as she continues to become a rising star in the World Cup.
