The owners are revamping the whole stadium and giving it the new shape it deserves. And it appears that their efforts are finally paying off, as their stadium is set to host a major international game, thus making it a historic place.

Wrexham set to host major international game

Recently, it was announced that the Wales national team will play an international friendly at the Wrexham stadium. The team is set to return to the city for the first time since 2019. They will play the match before its expansion, which won’t be completed until the 2024–25 season. However, the men’s national team of Wales intends to play the emphatic friendly against Gibraltar on October 11.

FA of Wales president Steve Williams told the press about the details. “The council have got funding to make the stadium bigger, and that is great news for ourselves and football fans in the north.”

“We’ve got some work to do and have some trial runs, but we are looking to take the Gibraltar game there in October. We know fans in the north are connected to the Wales national team and there is an appetite to play games in Wrexham,” he added.

This isn’t the first time they are hosting a game. Previously, the Racecourse Ground hosted every Wales game between 1877 and 1890. It has been the venue for 94 Welsh games in total, with the last one being a friend with Trinidad and Tobago back in 2019.

Indeed, it’s good news for both the club owners and the fans. However, this isn’t the only news that has made the day of Reynolds, as they are also set to receive massive funds for their stadium.

Ryan Reynolds receives massive funds

Recently, Wrexham County Borough Council backed plans for a new 5,500-seat stand at the Racecourse Ground. The club will receive a $31 million grant from the Welsh government. The funds will foster the development of the Wrexham Gateway Scheme.

It is divided into two parts that will be designed to transform a key corridor into the city. Stage one consists of the western side of the project. It includes a new hotel, conference facilities, and club office space, along with a new Kop stand. As soon as it is built, the Racecourse’s capacity will rise to around 16,000.
