It doesn’t take long for fans to turn on a player. German soccer superstar Toni Kroos might have learned it the hard way earlier tonight. The German superstar has had the support of fans worldwide heading into the Euros with the player announcing this will be his last football appearance. However, the game against Spain saw fans fuming with the player after his rash tackle saw Spain’s Pedri limping out of the game.
The incident happened in the opening minutes of the contest when both Toni Kroos and Pedri lunged for the ball. It was the Spaniard who came out of the rough side of the tackle as he took to the ground, clutching his knee. Toni Kroos appeared shocked by the referee Anthony Taylor’s decision to call a foul, but some fans were displeased with the lenient punishment. Former soccer star Daniel Sturridge also supported the claim, adding that Kroos should have been booked for the tackle on Rodri.
What a shame to lose a player like Pedri this early. Shocked it wasn’t a booking ….

Fans shared their frustration with the decision, as they felt the German should have been booked for the tackle. The German avoided getting booked for a while, adding more to fans’ annoyance. Despite being shown a yellow card in the 73rd minute, fans suggested the amount of fouls Kroos had he should have been sent off by now.
Fans slam referee Anthony Taylor for letting Toni Kroos go unchecked
With the game still at a standstill, things could have turned out a lot differently if Toni Kroos had been sent off for his tackle on Pedri. One fan noted Kroos didn’t seem bothered after injuring Pedri, which shouldn’t be a reaction from a professional player. Another fan chipped on the statement claiming the German was a “horrible athlete”.

Manchester United fan and social media personality Mark Goldbrige claimed the favoritism against Kroos was quite obvious and the game should have been called a Toni Kroos exhibition game.
Another blatant foul by Kroos on the edge of the box not given. May as well call this the Tony Kroos exhibition match

One fan claimed Anthony Taylor had been a subpar official throughout the game and despite having a chance to book Kroos, he was instead asking Spanish players to carry on with the game.
Anthony Taylor had the perfect view for this foul from Kroos on Oyarzabal just outside the box and instead of awarding the free kick and booking Kroos, he told Oyarzabal to get up. pic.twitter.com/SHD2Qwq0v3

Another fan also called out Kroos for getting favoritism treatment from the referee as he had avoided getting booked twice in a span of 10 minutes despite his rash tackles.
Toni Kroos has got away with two yellow card tackles inside 10 minutes here. When you realise the referee is from the Premier League, you understand.#EURO2024 pic.twitter.com/sGMqU6a7td

One fan claimed Kroos would be the guy who’d claim he was doing his job after injuring an opposition star. Some fans also related this to Real Madrid and Barcelona’s rivalry, claiming Kroos did his old team a favor one last time before retirement.
Toni Kroos is the kind of guy who’d tell you he was just doing his job in 1939

Well, while Kroos might have gone unchecked, his presence on the field did not help Germany, as Spain bagged the winner in the dying minutes of the extra time to knock the hosts out of the competition.
