According to an exclusive report from the Daily Mail, EFL and the Premier League have agreed to collectively sell their TV rights for the first time. Based on the agreement, EFL is set to receive 14.75% of the collective share starting next season. Additionally, EFL has also been allotted a bonus of $107,450,000 for the ongoing season.

This could be a big boost for Championship, League One, and Two clubs who could receive a decent chunk of cash from the deal. While EFL is yet to make a statement on how the funds will be allocated, Championship sides are likely to earn more considering their running costs.

Despite all that, the news is a big boost for League Two club owners Ryan Reynolds and David Beckham. It is evident that running a club in the lower divisions of English soccer is a challenging task, and any additional benefit is to boost a side in the short and long term. The new deal is likely to stem from EFL Chairman Rick Parry’s ‘Big Project Picture’ as he has been advocating the Premier League to allot 25% of its revenue to lower division teams.

The Hollywood duo has been trying their best to keep the club sustainable while working under the FPP regulations. However, the team will surely be happy with their current arrangement, as promotion to League Two has guaranteed a $1.3 million income in TV rights. The new deal between the Premier League and EFL will also boost the club’s financial condition as Wrexham now falls under the EFL banner following their promotion from the National League.

Wrexham has had a solid start to the ongoing season. While fans would have loved to see the team stand higher on the standings, the team has done well for a newly promoted side. The Red Dragons currently stand in 7th place at the points table with 15 points to their name from 9 games. The side is 5 points behind rivals Notts County, who are at the top of the table with 20 points to their name in 9 games.
