San Diego FC is making waves before it even begins its Major League Soccer journey. The 2025 expansion team has made a major breakthrough in assembling their roster for next season as they are set to announce the signing of Hirving “Chucky” Lozano. Having arrived at PSV Eindhoven just a year ago, the Mexican international will be leaving the Dutch side to embark on his MLS journey. As excitement builds to see Lozano in action, attention shifts to his wealth. How rich is the impending MLS arrival, and what will be his pay at his new club?
How much will Hirving “Chucky” Lozano earn at San Diego FC?
As per the reports from transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, Hirving Lozano is expected to earn a figure between $7 and $9 million. This is quite decent pay for the right winger as it would make him among the top five highest-paid players in the MLS. Currently, Lionel Messi leads the chart with a $150 million pay spread across two and a half seasons. Behind the Inter Miami star is Lozano’s former Napoli teammate and Toronto FC forward Lorenzo Insigne, who earns $15.44 million.

The list is followed by Messi’s former Barcelona and current Miami buddies, Luis Suarez and Sergio Busquets, at somewhere around $9 million. Lozano is also expected to cash in somewhere in this region. While the duration of his contract is not revealed, he can be expected to play at least 2–3 years for the California-based club. Interestingly, the 28-year-old had earlier expressed his desire to rather play in the Liga MX. However, his decision looks set to play in the States.
But is this salary an upgrade or a downgrade for Lozano? Also, the biggest question is how much it will increase his net worth.

Thanks to a remarkable soccer career, Hirving Lozano has accumulated a net worth of around $3 million. It also includes pay from various sponsorship and promotion deals that he endorses on his social media platform. But this reported figure should be more than that, considering the pay rise he has seen. As per Capology, the current salary he draws while playing on the Eredivisie side somewhere falls in the region of $3.8 million. Meanwhile, during his time at Napoli, the striker used to earn $5.8 million.

Hence, it looks like the aforementioned pay that he is set to receive in San Diego is certainly much more than the previous salary he used to draw. Notably, it had all begun for the forward at his hometown club, Pachuca, where he slowly rose through the ranks of the Mexican club. There, he won the CONCACAF Champions League as well as the league title. Eventually, he signed for PSV Eindhoven in 2017, and a couple of years later, he went to Napoli. However, last season, after helping the ‘Gli Azzurri’ win the Seria A and Coppa Italia, he returned to PSV, signing a 5-year contract.
