Everyone knows Ryan Reynolds as a Hollywood actor. However, the identity of the Deadpool star is changing. And it is thanks to the world’s third-oldest soccer club, Wrexham AFC. Reynolds came together with Rob McElhenney in 2020 and took over the Welsh club on February 9, 2021.

It’s been over two years since the duo is with the club. And their stint has seen the popularity of the club rise exponentially. The fortunes of Wrexham have changed since the Hollywood duo entered their lives in 2021. But what if the connection of Reynolds goes 130 years back with the club?

In 2022, Wrexham AFC’s official Twitter handle posted a photo from 1878. It was a picture of the 1878 team that won its first Welsh cup by beating Druids 1-0. Meanwhile, the tweet caught the attention of many; the reason being the player in the pic was a look-alike of Ryan Reynolds.

One of the Twitter handles related to Wrexham reposted the primary tweet with a picture of Reynolds and captioned it, “I mean, you’ve got to admit this is utterly mental.” The Deadpool star soon replied to the tweet by saying, “I will never speak of this on record.” It seems he was refraining himself from revealing the truth. But we all know how hilarious Ryan Reynolds is. He has shown his witty character several times over social media.

Meanwhile, the player in question in the tweet was John Price. The Wales international, born in 1854, started playing for the world’s third-oldest soccer club in 1877 after the captain persuaded him to join the club. He went on to play for the club until 1883, as per reports and was part of Wrexham, which won the Welsh Cup in 1877.
