Playing for the national team is always a dream for a soccer player. However, not everyone’s dream comes true. Wrexham AFC striker Paul Mullin also dreams of playing with the national team. But looking at the strike force England has, it seems impossible for Mullin to achieve his dream.
But there’s a twist. Despite intense competition in England, the FA Cup Golden Ball winner can achieve it by opting to play for Wales. Mullin is eligible to play for Wales thanks to his grandmother. And now the legendary Wrexham manager is willing to take the matter into his hands to get Mullin into Wales national team.

Brian Flynn is one of the legendary names in the history of Wrexham. Flynn spent five years with the club as a player and then returned to manage Wrexham for 12 years. The former Wales midfielder was in charge of the team when they famously played in European Cup Winners Cup after winning the Welsh Cup thrice.
Flynn was on Fearless In Devotion- Wrexham AFC Podcast recently. The hosts asked him about Paul Mullin’s absence and what he will do to get Mullin into the Wales national team. Flynn said, “I will take Paul Mullin to Welsh hotel with his boots and say to the manager he’s training with you for next two to three days. Just let him train with you. Have a look at him close hand.”

The legendary Wrexham boss feels Mullin playing in the fifth tier shouldn’t matter. He cited the example of another Wrexham legend, Andy Morrell. For Flynn, goal-scoring instinct is crucial and not the level where the soccer star plays. “So it doesn’t matter what level, if you’re a goal scorer, you’ve got a natural instinct,” he added.

The former Wales superstar is ready to push the case of Mullin. “I am not saying Phil asked to dictate the situation, but I’d really force the issue. I’d do it and get personal with [Wales] manager and push it,” Flynn said. Flynn feels Super Mullin has got everything to play for Wales. And his opinion does matter.
The great Sir Alex Ferguson took advice from Flynn over a legendary Manchester United signing. The former Wrexham manager once visited for the game between Lyngby and Brondby. Ferguson was already scouting Brondby goalkeeper Peter Schmeichel. And once he realized Flynn was at the game, he sought advice for Schmeichel. The Denmark international landed at United and left the club as a legend.
