Manchester United had a busy summer as they brought some big-money signings to Old Trafford. The club was also looking at different options related to the transfer of Cristiano Ronaldo. However, the negotiations failed to materialize, and the player stayed at the club for another season. However, that arguably hasn’t gone down too well for both the club and CR7.
Cristiano Ronaldo has recently revealed that he was close to joining the other side of Manchester in the summer of 2021. However, Sir Alex Ferguson intervened, and he joined the Red Devils.

With so much happening around, there’s not much information on the club’s reaction to Ronaldo’s recent comments. Ronaldo admitted in his latest interview with Piers Morgan that he was “betrayed” by the club. He also called out Erik ten Hag for not respecting him. It’ll be interesting to see Manchester United‘s activities in the January transfer window.
However, Ronaldo is currently focused on the 2022 FIFA World Cup with his national team. He has already won the Euros and the Nations League with Portugal and will certainly want to complete an international treble with the elusive World Cup win. What a fitting end it would be for an illustrious career. However, it is a tough way up top with so many teams in a stacked roster as always.
