To see athletes be highly competitive, as they age, is very exciting. Olivier Giroud, 37, has shown fans the extent of his longevity. Apart from competing in goals on the national level, he has now decided to add more spice by trying to stop his French teammate, Kylian Mbappe.
Giroud is in the later stages of his career but is still determined to remain at the top. On the other hand, Kylian Mbappe is as young as ever, fighting to be the best in the world. In a battle of ages and goal-scoring records, how will Giroud trump Mbappe?

Paris Saint Germain will play AC Milan in the third group stage match of this season’s UEFA Champions League. Giroud, however, has a well-planned strategy to stop PSG and more specifically, Kylian Mbappe.
With context to what he has planned, Giroud said, “We’ll have to be wary of everyone but of course Kylian in particular. I think we’ll have to defend against him, that’s for sure.”
He also gave a glimpse of another approach to the game, calling it defensive and progressive. He stated, “Our philosophy is to defend while moving forward. We do that at home. Over there, I don’t know if the coach will want us to wait a little longer, but we’re well aware of their attacking strengths.”
PSG has had a stumbling start to their league campaign. Moreover, their last Champions League game against the Saudi-backed Newcastle United also ended in a 4-1 whopping from the Magpies.

The highly talented 2018 World Cup winner expressed that his passion for goals remains the same. During an interview with Telefoot, the Les Blues striker, while smirking, admitted that he would not let Mbappe beat his record easily. He said, “If I can score a few more goals to get ahead of Kylian, that would be good.”
The former UEFA Champions League winner has 54 goals for France 11 above Mbappe, but only the AC Milan star’s longevity can put the argument to bed. On the European stage, Giroud would want to ace the clash against PSG. Placed third in Group F, a loss in the next game could make it difficult for AC Milan to qualify for the knockouts.
