Cristiano Ronaldo‘s career is simply unsurpassed, amid the Portuguese superstar’s on-field accomplishments. Furthermore, the Real Madrid legend has established his place as one of the world’s highest-earning athletes estimated at $500 million. However, the source of his luxurious lifestyle and unmatchable wealth is not only because of soccer.

Besides being one of the greatest soccer stars ever, the Portuguese international has been a smart entrepreneur. A few weeks back, Ronaldo invested 10 million euros and launched his own mineral water brand, called Ursu9. Interestingly, a famous nutritionist came to the spotlight after accusing the soccer star of Ursu9’s alleged benefits.

Apart from all his on-field achievements, Ronaldo made a name for himself in the fields of fashion, hospitality, health, and wellness. Back in 2021, Ronaldo snubbed two Coca-Cola bottles from the table during a press conference and promoted people to drink water. The incident took the soccer world into a frenzy and the brand took a $4 billion hit in market value.

Now, after two years of the incident, Ronaldo has launched his own mineral water brand called Ursu9. The soccer star has invested a whopping 10 million euros and claimed ‘medicinal’ effects for consumers. Ursu9 is said to have medicinal effects because of the special characteristics of the water. It contains a high level of alkaline, antioxidant, and mineral.

Ursu9 claims to contain high alkaline content, pH9, a way to compensate for the acidity of the human body. It also helps recover the organic vitality and well-being sensation. However, despite Ursu9’s unique benefits reports, Spanish nutritionist guarantees it to be a fallacious claim.

Spanish nutritionist attacks Cristiano Ronaldo’s water brand

Juan Revenga claims that Ursu9 isn’t different from other water brands and doesn’t provide any miracle effects. Moreover, the nutritionist also revealed the wrong details of the promotional video provided by the company. He reported that the location company presented as being in Spain is actually a waterfall in the municipality of Arganil, Portugal. Juan also talks about the false claims of alkaline and antioxidant effects.

Ursu9 claimed to contain an alkaline pH greater than seven (actually nine). This characteristic was highlighted a lot by the media, the company’s manager, Cristiano Ronaldo, and nutritionist, Aitor Sánchez. Furthermore, they even spoke of alkaline water as ‘promising’ waters.

Regardless of all the claims, Juan has provided a different take on alkaline water traits. He mentions that studies which explain the effects of alkaline water are still insufficient.

“Many people are surprised when it is suggested that scientific studies are useless, but it is true. Either because the methodological approaches are poor, because the design is inadequate, or because there is interference from sponsors”, he adds. Interestingly, Juan also reveals that the antioxidant level of the water is close to zero.

He further added, “If we use distilled water, the antioxidant power is null and very close to zero like any other water, whether it’s tap water, bottled water, with this pH or any other.” Juan completely disagrees with Ursu9’s medicinal claims and has raised his voice against its alleged benefits.

Lastly, Juan compares the antioxidant capacity of water with the “healing capacity of unicorn tears”. The Portuguese soccer star explained that he joined the project because of his growing interest in everything related to health. Now that the famous nutritionist has accused the Real Madrid icon of Ursu9’s alleged benefits, Ronaldo can potentially face a lot of backlash.
