Dettori spoke to BettingSites ahead of his final Royal Ascot appearance. He cited the example of Cristiano Ronaldo talking about how he wants to end his career. Dettori said, “I’d rather go out at the top. Look at Cristiano Ronaldo. In his last few games for Manchester United as a player, before he went to Saudi Arabia, he was probably not as excited or as on top of his game as he was at Man Utd in his glory days, or even his first season returning to Old Trafford. I wouldn’t want to end like that.”
Ronaldo has made a name for himself. The fans know the five-time Ballon d’Or for his hunger to win and score goals. However, his last few months with Manchester United were dismal. He lacked ambitions, desire for success and didn’t enjoy his game. It was unlikely Ronaldo.
To add to the woes, Ronaldo had a torrid Qatar World Cup campaign, and no top club was willing to transfer him in after terminating his United contract. And Dettori pointed out the same during the interview. The veteran jockey wants to enjoy every bit of his career until he hangs up the boots.

Ronaldo wasn’t able to help Al-Alami to win any silverware this season. However, on an individual level, the five-time Ballon d’Or winner had a mixed season. Despite that, the former Real Madrid superstar notched 14 goals in the Saudi Pro League in 16 appearances.
He joined the club mid-season but ended in the top five of the goalscoring list in the league. Meanwhile, he didn’t make it to the league’s Team of the Season but helped Saudi Arabia soccer to get an enormous fan following.
