Jesse Marsch’s critique of the US Men’s National Team stars is a no-brainer. From having ‘absolute faith’ in Gregg Berhalter during the Copa America triumph to urging the need for a ‘ruthless coach’ following his sacking, one wonders what made Tyler Adams and Co. change their minds about having a new manager. While this was something that Marsch found ‘funny‘, the USMNT icon Herculez Gomez also feels the same, insisting the American boys can’t have ‘two ways.’
It was just days ago when Marsch didn’t hold back his criticism about the players’ hypocrisy regarding Berhalter. The slamming from the current Canada National Team manager caught the eye of Gomez, who also sent his message to Team USA. Retweeting Marsch’s dissent on X, he added a caption saying, “It’s ’shots fired’ and maybe a low blow by Jesse Marsch at these players but he’s right. No two ways about it.” But what exactly did the CanMNT boss say regarding the players?
Rejected by US Soccer for the coaching job, Marsch said, “The funny thing is a lot of the players that were clamoring to get Gregg back were also the ones now saying that it’s time to move on. This sport has to be about constantly being challenged to be your best. I don’t care who the coach is, there shouldn’t be a comfortability. There should always be a drive to be better.”

While Marsch can allow the process of metamorphosis a rather enjoyable one, he urged for the need to have certain demands and expectations. “This life should never be about complacency….there has to be the drive and the obsession to be your best,” added the 50-year-old American-born manager, underlining that professional soccer is all about setting the bar as high as possible.
After sacking Gregg Berhalter, USMNT cracked this code by pursuing a big-name coach. Interestingly, the past few weeks have seen Mauricio Pochettino get strongly linked to sit on the vacant seat. However, ahead of this potential hiring, the Marsh has a warning.
Jesse Marsch urges USMNT to avoid one ‘foolish’ mistake with Mauricio Pochettino
Having met with Mauricio Pochettino earlier, Jesse Marsch knows how good the Argentine can be for the US Men’s National Team. However, the CanMNT boss doesn’t want the Eagles to stop their potential new manager from thinking or making out-of-the-box decisions. “I hope that he’s given a lot of freedom and room to implement,” remarked Marsch.

The American tactician underlined that the USMNT never had a manager like Poch, whose pedigree and experiences can never be doubted. “We’d be foolish not to really give him the reigns in every way.” Additionally, he also urged the players to not see Pochettino as a ‘whip-cracker.’ Rather, insists the responsibility rests on the group to perform well.

“I think he’s a good man with a good idea and a good way of implementing it and that’s what they’re going to get I think,” said Marsch earlier. Be that as it may, there are several things that the USSF and the MNT stars will have to brace themselves for a lot of challenges if they wish to count on Pochettino to solve their problems.
