However, during the World Cups, the Argentine fans continued to support the team in any situation. Now that the World Cup has finally reached Messi’s hands, the praises cannot stop for the Argentine. To express his appreciation, the 1978 Argentine National team coach recently called Lionel Messi wise in making decisions.

Cesar Luis Menotti said, “Messi knows how far he can go and how he feels about playing. He is at a beautiful age to decide what to do and what not to do. He was accompanied by success and great teammates in great teams”, as compiled by TyC Sports.

Menotti was the manager of Argentina’s World Cup-winning team in 1978. The former coach pointed out that Lionel Messi is at the right age to decide where he wants to stay and what he wants to do. Having the experience of what it takes to win a World Cup, Menotti gave it to Messi for his success.

The former FC Barcelona coach was also influential backstage in Argentina’s World Cup win. He was the director of Argentina’s national team but could not accompany them due to his respiratory issues. The iconic coach who changed the face of the Argentina Nationals team also hails from Rosario, Messi’s hometown.

Cesar Luis Menotti, an Argentine Soccer revolutionary

Known as the El Flaco, Menotti coached some huge teams like Boca Juniors and Argentina’s Under 20 team. Apart from winning the 1978 World Cup, he also coached and utilized Diego Maradona’s skills to win the World Youth Championship in 1979. Menotti a firm believer in quality than result-oriented soccer also stated, “Results are not only evaluated by the goals scored, but also by how they are achieved.”
