The banter between the pundits never ceases to excite the fans around the world. But sometimes they can take you back to some embarrassing moments. From trolling regarding titles to on-field moments, Jamie Carragher is regularly involved in such ribbing. Recently, the Liverpool legend was part of one such conversation where he was compared to Erling Haaland in goalscoring ability in a hilarious way.
Haaland has been synonymous with success. And being compared to him would have gone very well with the former defender. But it turned out to be exactly the opposite, as the former defender was reminded of the worst flaw of his career.

The English actor and comedian Paddy McGuinness used his comic skills to spar Jamie Carragher. In a recent conversation on Stick to Football Quiz, McGuiness asked Ian Right and Roy Keane about who between Carragher and Gary Neville has scored more Premier League goals. But before anyone could answer, McGuiness clarified wittily, saying not to include Carragher’s own goals. McGuiness stated, “We’re not including Jamie’s own goals, because that’s like he beats Haaland on that.”
Carragher has a reputation for scoring the second most own goals in the Premier League, with seven. The 45-year-old joins Martin Skrtel and Phil Jagielka and only falls behind former Manchester City player Richard Dune. To Carragher’s despair, his worst came when he scored two of his own goals against archrivals Manchester United in their famous 1999 season, which they lost 2-3. Moreover, Neville beat Carragher 5 goals to 3 in their Premier League stint.
Haaland’s well-known goal-scoring prowess was used by McGuinness, which led the whole group of participants to break out laughing. Haaland was the top scorer in the league last year and broke many records, however, this season he has been hampered by an injury.

Erling Haaland is still one of the favorites for the Premier League Golden Boot
The Norwegian striker has no competition for goals, it looks like. Despite playing fewer matches than other stars, Halland scored 14 goals in 15 games and tops the charts for goals this season as well. The striker missed the last four games due to stress in his bones. He also could not play in the FIFA Club World Cup, which City won.

However, Pep Guardiola is not convinced Haaland will come back this month. With fixtures being very congested, Pep surely wouldn’t like to risk him for the crucial stages. However, the star is still to be taken over as this year’s top scorer, with Mohamed Salah in contention.
