In such a short span of time, Ryan Reynolds did the unthinkable at Wrexham. Along with Rob McElhenney, the Hollywood duo managed to finally win promotion to the EFL League Two. Their promotion was possible after significant investment into the club. After a memorable 2022-23 season, the club’s manager Phil Parkinson reacts to their historic opener in the new division.
Last season, the Welsh soccer club was on an unbelievable run at home in the league. Amidst the promotion celebrations, the Wrexham boss analyzes the first five fixtures of the upcoming season. This would be a new division, but their priorities would likely be the same!

Just hours ago, the club unveiled its fixtures for the brand-new season. Giving major emphasis to the first five, let’s dive deeper. The Red Devils will kick off their campaign against MK Dons at home. In a recent chat with Sky Sports, Phil Parkinson spoke about their first fixture. The interviewer asked him whether he was pleased with their season kicking off at the Racecourse Ground itself.
He said, “Yeah, very much so. That’s what we wanted. Home game to celebrate our return to the EFL. You can’t ask for any more great fixture and yes really look forward to.” Interestingly, Wrexham will have three home fixtures out of their opening five. During the conversation, the boss highlighted their impressive form at home in the season gone by.

Parkinson confidently quoted, “Yeah, pleased. I think you look at the early fixtures we’ve got to be happy that I’d say three of the first five are home. We had a decent record at the Racecourse last year. Our aim is to obviously try and reproduce that.”
The Red Devils boss was, of course, referring to their unbeaten home run in the league. Let’s have a look at some of the other records that they broke last season.

Unbelievable, dreamy, and glorious are three such words that can only describe Ryan Reynolds’ fate with Wrexham. Out of the twenty-three league home games, the Welsh soccer club drew just one of them. With not losing a single home game, Parkinson and his team managed to win the other twenty-two. The Red Devils ended the season with 111 points, five more than Reading’s record 105-pointer in 2005-06.
Despite the team’s exit from the fourth round of the FA Cup, Paul Mullin won the FA Cup Golden Ball with nine goals. Along with his teammate Ben Tozer, they made an appearance in the FA Cup Team of the Season over Erling Haaland. Despite scoring 38 goals in the National League alone, Mullin couldn’t manage to win the top-scorer award as Macaulay Langstaff set the division record with a 42-goal finish to the season.
