In the years under Sir Alex FergusonManchester United became the team to watch out for. Their entertaining style of play also led to many fans of the young generation becoming supporters of the team. One of them was star golfer Rory McIlroy. Speaking on the Overlap, he discussed how Roy Keane did not give him an autograph when he was 12.

Narrating the incident, he stated, “I saw one of my Manchester United heroes, Roy Keane, in the lobby, and I must’ve been around 12 years old, so I went over to him asking for an autograph. ‘He looked up at me and said, Not today, kid.'”

Likewise, Keane had his fair reasons for doing so. The Manchester United legend had a tough time at the hotel where the team resided, as kids kept asking him for autographs. It was a little frustrating for him, too. In the end, the former number-one golfer also said that Keane looked in a bad mood. The 34-year-old has also added that David Beckham was his hero growing up.

The snub from Roy Keane luckily did not end his love for Manchester United. He remains a lifelong fan of the Red Devils, and the 34-year-old spoke about the current situation at the club.
