The coronation of King Charles III took place at Westminster Abbey on Saturday. Delegations from various countries attended the ceremony. The Australian contingent caught the eye of soccer fans with Chelsea Women’s forward as the flag bearer. USWNT superstar Megan Rapinoe made an unusual demand for the Australian soccer star over social media.

They chose Chelsea forward Sam Kerr, a two-time MVP in NWSL (2017, 2019), to lead the Australian delegation. It included the Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese. They took part in the ceremony as a part of the Commonwealth. However, the response from Megan Rapinoe to a social media post is a talking point.

Kerr spoke about it on the Chelsea website. She said, “I found out I’d been offered the role from a phone call, but I wasn’t sure if I could do it because we have a game on Sunday, but Emma’s been kind enough to let me miss a practice for it, which is very nice of her.” It was a significant gesture from Chelsea’s boss to let Sam Kerr attend the coronation.
