Mbappe had hoped to join Real Madrid in this transfer window, but it was now unlikely, as Los Blancos had spent a large budget on Jude Bellingham to strengthen their squad. Additionally, soccer pundits believed that it would be in the best interests of the former Monaco star to stay with PSG until next season before making a decision about his future.

Kylian Mbappe was courted by a number of top English clubs and also received a multi-million dollar offer from Qatari’s side, Al Hilal. Despite PSG accepting a $300 million deal for him, the French star was not interested in the offer. What was Pique’s stance about the president of PSG?

Mbappe was excluded from PSG’s pre-season tour of Japan and South Korea and was also not included in the squad for their Ligue 1 season opener against Lorient. Gerard Pique believed that PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi would be willing to bench Kylian Mbappe for the entire season, but was unwilling to let the world-class player leave for free. El Presidente expressed on Twitch, “I see him capable of doing it. It’s a chess move. And to see who can do more. The issue is getting tense”.
