The final chapter of the Ronaldo saga ended when he gave an explosive interview with British journalist Piers Morgan. The club and the player then mutually terminated his contract and proved to be the difference in United’s current sensational form. Crooks pointed out the reason in his latest BBC’s Team of the Week.

Former United player believes the sale of Cristiano Ronaldo worked wonders!

United defeated Nottingham Forest by 2-0 with goals from Antony and Diogo Dalot, proving to be the difference. In the latest BBC Team of the Week, three Manchester United players made the squad to the delight of the fans. Crooks quickly noticed how selling Ronaldo became the turning point for the club.

He commented, “All credit to Erik ten Hag, who has not just transformed the team but the entire squad since Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure. Getting rid of Ronaldo was key to that.”

David de Gea, Diogo Dalot, and Bruno Fernandes made the Team of the Week, after a convincing performance. But the real talking point is the spotlight on Ronaldo. When he joined the club from Juventus, he had a superb start to the season, scoring 24 goals and creating three assists in 39 games. Yet, the team suffered. Ronaldo is the focal point of the attack and arguably the best goalscorer in the world. However, it hasn’t been the same case in chasing back opponents in defense.

Due to this, the team suffers, and soccer is a team game. Therefore, Crooks pointed out ten Hag’s transformations. Now, they play a team game. 

Manchester United is back!

The club ended their six-year trophy barren years after lifting the Carabao Cup. ten Hag has perfected his team well by combining youth and experience. Players like Casemiro provide the winning mentality and defensive cover for United to attack upfront. Likewise, Marcus Rashford has been a revelation after years of low key-performances. Therefore, things are looking for the club.

Smart recruitments and bringing up youth players are satisfactory to watch as ten Hag adopting his free-flowing soccer approach works well for the club. To sum up, Ronaldo is a legend at United. Despite a sketchy second spell, the club would probably recognize his achievements to date.
