Liverpool had every right to be disappointed following the side’s latest fixture. While the team was looking to make quick work of Manchester United at home, the side had to settle for a goalless draw. Frustrations boiled over during the post-game interview, with Liverpool skipper Virgil Van Dijk claiming the visitors had no interest in winning the game. His comments did not sit well with ex-Man United skipper Roy Keane, who fired back labeling the defender “arrogant”. However, it looks like the banter between the two sides remains far from over, with an ex-Liverpool icon jumping to Van Dijk’s defense, stating Keane needs to “get a life”.
Van Dijk was less than impressed with Manchester United’s performance following their game at Anfield. The Dutchman did not shy away from making his feelings known, stating that while his side was frustrated with the outcome, United was buzzing with the draw.

Liverpool legend Phil Thompson was not too amused by Roy Keane’s criticism. In an interview with talkSport, Thompson defended Van Dijk from criticism, claiming the Liverpool skipper was only voicing his opinion.
Thompson stated, “I don’t think it was arrogant. I think he was just giving his opinion. As Roy gives his opinion, as Gabby gives his opinion, I, I think it wasn’t arrogant by any means. I think it was frustration. I really feel you come off that game. You know you have dominated them.”
He added, “And for Roy Keane to be talking about arrogance, come on, do me a favor. And I love Roy, but no way he sat back, and he kept repeating the word arrogance. Roy, just get a life.”
