The sacking of Bayern Munich’s goalkeeping coach became a controversial decision. After that, Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer spoke out against the sudden sacking of long-time goalkeeping coach Toni Tapalovic. The club fined him after his controversial interview regarding the sacking of his beloved coach.
It became a similar situation to soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, who gave an interview to Piers Morgan and ended up getting his contract terminated by Manchester United.

After working closely with him for a decade, Neuer opened up about how his “heart was ripped out,” hearing the terrible news. Therefore, Bayern made a decision and fined him around $1.6 million. The club took a call on Toni’s job after he allegedly leaked some information from the dressing room.
Cristiano Ronaldo type of situation for Manuel Neuer
After joining Schalke in 2011, Neuer completely revolutionized the goalkeeping position by introducing the sweeper-keeper role. Moreover, Tapalovic, who was in the club since 2011, transformed the 36-year-old into a stunning goalkeeper. But Bayern Munich coach Julian Nagelsmann supposedly complained about the coach’s behavior which led to the sack. It became shocking for Neuer, who never shied away from opening up during tense situations.
Both the goalkeeper and the goalkeeping coach shared a unique bond during his time in Schalke. In fact, Neuer made him his best man during his wedding to Nina Weiss in 2017. Neuer discussed the shocking sacking in an interview, according to the Mirror. He stated, “That blow hit me extremely hard. I was told by the club officials. It came out of nowhere. For Toni too. I didn’t understand that at all. It really knocked me down.”
The German goalkeeper is out for the season after fracturing a leg in a skiing incident. Therefore, the future probably hangs in the balance for him. Adding insult to injury, Bayern completed a deal for Borussia Monchengladbach goalkeeper Yan Sommer to replace the injured goalie. He would fill in for Neuer and probably take the number one spot from the Bavarian legend.

Although goalkeepers never age, when compared to strikers, Neuer is slowly beginning to show that age is catching up. For years, he was the best in the world and never looked unfazed. The command of his penalty box, cat-like reflexes, and remarkable ability to play with his foot separated him from the rest. Due to him, teams started yearning for similar goalkeepers.
