“Genuinely Love Each Other” – Years Before Massive $2.5 Million Wrexham Investment, Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney Opens Up on Thick Friendship

Everything happens for a reason. Perhaps that’s why Wrexham AFC went through a lot of financial turmoil, which eventually led to a historic takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. Their journey at the club so far has been a rollercoaster ride, as they have faced a lot of ups and downs.

In the end, everything turned out well, as they clinched significant success. While it also benefited the Welsh side in considerable ways, it also helped both Reynolds and McElhenney grow their friendship bond even more.

One would barely ever have thought that two Hollywood actors would take control of a fifth-division side and lead it to glory. Before the takeover, Wrexham, Reynolds, and McElhenney never knew each other. While the actor duo must have crossed each other’s paths before, the soccer club was never in their sights.

And now it is only the club that revolves around both of their lives. The Hollywood duo works hand-in-hand to improve the club’s stature. In fact, it significantly helped them to grow their friendship. While speaking to the Los Angeles Times, Reynolds had some words to quote about the same. “Rob and I genuinely love each other,” says Reynolds.

He continued, “We had spoken and talked before this but we never spent significant time together. We are different enough that we help grow each other and we are similar enough that we attack things with real alignment and the same work ethic. That’s something I will always respect with Rob, he is utterly tireless about something he’s passionate about.”

The Deadpool star praised his fellow co-owner, saying both are quite similar. He also heaped praise on McElhenney’s immense passion and work ethic. Indeed, it was Wrexham that helped both actors meet and improve their friendship.

It all started with a $2.5 million investment

If Reynolds and McElhenney had never taken the decision to come on board and invest in Wrexham, then things would have been different. Both shook hands with each other and invested $2.5 million in the Welsh club. A lot of words were floating around about whether they would be able to carry the club forward to success.

While their first season may have been a failure, the owner’s optimism helped the Red Dragons get back into the Football League. Not only did they manage to end their 15-year exile, but they also cemented the club’s position in the soccer world. Both the owners and the club are garnering massive praise and global recognition. And this is just the beginning, as the long journey still lies ahead.
