After spending on American soccer players in the transfer window, Leeds United has sacked Jesse Marsch. The team lost 1-0 to Nottingham Forest in a crucial game on Sunday. After the loss, the board parted ways and issued a statement. Significantly, Leeds stays in 17th, tied with Everton in the relegation zone. Therefore, the board quickly acted to find a new manager to steady the ship.

They were active in the January transfer window as Marsch tried to build a strong American core at the club. But things don’t go as planned for most managers in the league. After helping them survive last year’s relegation, Marsch has been relieved of his club duties. Fans reacted to the sudden sacking of the manager and took to Twitter to post their comments.

The American coach arrived with much fanfare, and fans compared him to a fictional character, Ted Lasso. Although he weaved his magic early on, the club struggled since he took over. Fans took resemblance to the famous Marvel movie, The Avengers. One tweet stated, “Gathered all the Avengers for nothing.”

Another fan sends an optimistic tweet stating how Kanye West will replace him. He tweeted, “Kanye West will replace him #yeezy.” Most people also believed the decision to be correct, and Leeds United needed a fresh face to go into a possible relegation battle.

While another fan supported their former manager, Marcelo Bielsa stating how they missed him. The fan tweeted, “He had a lot of talk with not much action to back it up. It was inevitable it was going to happen. Leeds were much better under Bielsa, always loved watching them when he was there.”

According to the Guardian, the club issued a statement, “We would like to thank Jesse and his backroom staff for their efforts and wish them well for the future. The process of appointing a new head coach is underway and we will continue to keep supporters up to date throughout the coming days.”
