Manchester City is fighting a tough battle as the side hopes to make history and become the first side to win four consecutive Premier League titles. Pep Guardiola, during his latest press conference, talked about the team’s chances while taking some sly digs at pundits. However, his words did not sit well with Jamie Carragher, who quickly hit back at the Spaniard. Now ex-United star Gary Neville has also joined the fray as he used Pep’s dig to take some shots at his fellow pundit.

Jamie Carragher was not too amused with Pep Guardiola’s comments from his press conference. The ex-Liverpool star claimed that Manchester City had received tainted success through the backing of Saudi Arabia and pushing multiple boundaries.

Notably, Gary Neville and Jamie Carragher have shared a great banter over the years. With Guardiola taking some sly digs at the pundits, Neville did not miss the opportunity to make fun of Carragher following his rant over Pep’s comments.

In one of his videos, Neville stated, “We will start with the fact that the old master Pep had a go at me and Carra. Me for not winning four in a row. Sorry, Pep, apologies for that. And for my friend James from Liverpool for not taking part in the Premier League title celebrations at all during his career. Which did make me chuckle slightly.”

He added, “But the dirty little Scouse dog Carragher had to go back at Pep, didn’t he? He can’t rise above it and see it as a compliment. Carra, I think you would have won a Premier League title if you hadn’t kept putting the ball in the back of your own net. That would have been a big help to your team.”

While Neville might have taken Guardiola’s comments in light jest, the same cannot be stated for Jamie Carragher. The Spaniard’s words set the former Liverpool star off as he fired his own response to the Manchester City boss.

His words did not sit well with Carragher, who retaliated by stating, “I think I’d have probably won one if Liverpool were owned by a nation-state, and pushed the rules so far that the PL charged us 115 times!!”
