It’s funny how life turns out to be. 10 years ago, a high school teenager stood in front of Alex Morgan with a big chart paper and bouquet of flowers, asking the then 25-year-old USWNT star to go on a prom date with him. Today, that very boy has made the Forbes Under 30 list and goes by the name Eli Wachs, with Morgan being one who is raising glass over this achievement.
Founder of a software startup, Footprint, Wachs himself shed light on this very never-before-seen-and-heard story with the recently retired forward while commemorating his recent achievement. Taking to X, he shared a picture of himself getting honored by Forbes while simultaneously sharing an old picture by the Forbes Summit Team of him doing the proposal in front of Morgan.
In the caption, he wrote, “Honored to be chosen on this year’s @ForbesUnder30 list, and very grateful they did not penalize me for asking out @alexmorgan13 to my high school prom at their summit a decade ago.” Interestingly, for the response, Morgan retweeted the post and wrote, “Full Circle 🤣 Congratulations on being honored!!”

Of course, it was unexpected for Morgan to see Wachs become such a successful person. The 35-year-old may have a thin memory within her about Eli and his cute prom proposal over a decade ago. However, as soon as the tech entrepreneur informed her about where he was today, it made Alex suggest that Wachs’ journey from that innocent high school moment to being honored by Forbes was truly a “Full Circle” moment, completing his remarkable journey.

Revisiting the time Eli Wachs proposed to Alex Morgan for prom
Eli Wach has indeed come quite a long way. He spearheaded the launch of two companies before even completing his college degree, one of which focused on helping organizations monitor the spread of infectious diseases. However, this venture began and closed within two years prior to the COVID-19 pandemic.
It was then he worked at private equity at General Atlantic, where after gaining significant experience, he founded Footprint. His brainchild software startup aims to assist financial institutions in combating fraud. Footprint’s code is integrated into the websites of banks, collecting data such as consumers’ typing patterns and AI models from other fraud detection firms.

Till now, the company is proudly working at the disposal of 30 clients, which includes several regional banks and FinTech companies like Treasury Prime. Additionally, Footprint has also secured $20 million in funding from investors such as QED and Index, bringing its valuation to a considerable number.
Either way, it is one of the most interesting stories we have ever heard. Also, we wonder what was Alex Morgan’s response to Eli Wachs when he approached the soccer icon with his prom proposal.
