Manchester City are currently looking for their first win in four games in the Premier League. So their next game against newly-promoted Luton is vital in the current scenario. However, they have just suffered a big setback. Star striker Erling Haaland is out of the game because of a foot injury. But this is not a first for the 23-year-old star.

It looks like Pep Guardiola will now have Julian Alvarez lead the line for the game. Manchester City fans will hope that the striker’s injury is not serious, because his history proves worrisome.

Erling Haaland’s constant troubles with injuries at the age of 23

According to reports, Erling Haaland will miss the trip to Luton. Similar injuries have also afflicted his career at RB Salzburg, Borussia Dortmund, and Molde FK. At Molde, he suffered a ligament injury that made him miss 5 games for club and country. In his one and a half-season at RB Salzburg, he missed 9 games. The reasons vary from knee problems, illness, bruise, and abdominal problems. Some similar problems continued with him after his move to Bundesliga club Borussia Dortmund.

In his two seasons at the Bundesliga club, he missed 33 games because of various injuries. The injuries ranged from muscular, torn muscle, and knee injuries that also impacted the club’s title race with Bayern Munich. In his last season with Manchester City, he missed 5 games because of a foot bruise and groin problems. This luckily did not have a huge impact as his goals helped them win the treble.

Julian Alvarez will get the chance to lead the line on his own

Despite the injury to Haaland, City are the favorites to win against Luton Town. This is because they have World Cup winner Julian Alvarez in their squad to replace the injured Norwegian striker. His brilliant form also earned him a new contract extension from the Premier League giants.
