The USMNT are gearing up for their final challenge of the Copa America group stage. After a previous disappointing fixture against Panama, the host nation will be facing Uruguay for the last group-stage game. As the team prepares for the clash that decides their fate in the tournament, all eyes are currently on Matt Turner. There is a fresh injury update regarding the goalkeeper, who was forced off the pitch due to injury.

And we are slightly confused about whether it’s a good one or a bad one. Well, to give you a positive one first, journalist Michele Giannone shared a video of Gregg Berhalter and Co. training his whole squad on X. Interestingly, Turner was spotted alongside his other teammate on the ground. This subtly suggests that the Nottingham Forest star is available to play against Marcelo Bielsa’s side tomorrow at the Arrowhead Stadium. However, the bad one may pour cold water on all these hopes.

As per the report from another journalist, Joseph Lowery, on X, Gregg Berhalter was asked about his starting keeper during the pre-match presser. Unfortunately, he acknowledged that Matt Turner would be a “limited” participant in their two training sessions here in Kansas City. The MNT boss further added that the team’s medical staff will further “monitor his status” just moments before the match kicks off with Uruguay.

These are indeed two different sentiments regarding Turner. Yet eventually, it suggests that the 30-year-old will have to undergo a quick test to give confidence to Berhalter to start him for the match. Interestingly, you would be surprised to know that the goalie had already feared that something would happen to him in the last match.

During a post-match chit-chat with USMNT’s sideline reporter, Michele Giannone, Matt Turner said; “Don’t know why but I had this feeling before the match that something bad was going to happen.” Eventually, just under 10 minutes into the match, he collided with Panama star Cesar Blackman to fall quite hard on the ground. Unfortunately, the goalkeeper’s left leg made contact with the opposing star’s right knee. Even so, Turner continued the match, he came off before the second half.

Remarkably, Turner was also asked whether he would be able to make it for the Uruguay clash, to which the former Arsenal man replied that things were still unclear. Furthermore, Gregg Berhalter will not have Tim Weah at his disposal, as he was sent off in the previous match. The youngster’s absence will certainly hurt the USMNT against Uruguay. However, the presence of Matt Turner would surely be a major confidence booster for them.
