It’s going to be a blockbuster transfer window in soccer next summer. Paris Saint-Germain has been quite relaxed about their situation regarding Kylian Mbappe in the last few months. That said, the burden on the club has once again resurfaced, with reports suggesting the star’s market value has seen a pullback. Additionally, this could also prove to be a leg-up for their competitor, Real Madrid.

Mbappe, on the other hand, has been performing the routine, helping PSG reach the Round of 16 once again in the UEFA Champions League. But the 25-year-old’s future at Par des Princes still hangs in doubt, making all the stakeholders curious.

It is reasonable to assume that Paris Saint-Germain has already made contingency plans in case Mbappe decides to leave. But letting go of the star for nothing is a gray area for the club. According to Football Benchmark, Kylian Mbappe’s value is currently $167 million. That is a 34% decrease from July 2022 to October 2022, when his highest estimated worth was $255 million.

The Qatari-owned club was adamant about demanding the player sign a contract extension. Yet, Mbappe was also headstrong, which led to disagreement between the two parties. Subsequently, the World Cup Golden Boot winner also skipped the initial part of the season after being kept out of the squad. But now, things are set to be cordial between them, thanks to a reported agreement that he will not put them in the doldrums by leaving for free.

The market value of players is driven down by many factors apart from their performances and prospects. Parameters like age, duration of the contract, and the club they belong to play a vital role. Considering the increase in Mbappe’s age, adding to the expiration date of his contract would have also been a significant reason for the current estimation. Contrarily, this could prove a blessing for Real Madrid.

Real Madrid could gain advantage from Mbappe’s market value

Carlo Ancelotti was clear in rejecting the surreal exit fee of $272 million proposed by the president of PSG, Nasser Al-Khelaifi. But things could get better because the French striker could be available at a much lower price. As his contract expires in the summer of 2024, Ancelotti is expected to give the superstar another shot.
