Shakira is still embroiled in her diss-track saga from back in early January. The lyrics of her last few songs have been sharply worded and hard-hitting. In fact, her diss track with Bizarrap stood out from the rest because of its personal touch to the lyrics. Recently, the Latin American singer spoke about the same song which gathered a lot of controversy too. The singer simply stated that she just needed to express herself.

After the release of her new songs, her ex-boyfriend Gerard Pique became subject to severe criticism from the media and fans. On the other hand, there are a few people who disagree with the singer’s ways of dealing with the entire breakup.

One of the reasons why people love Shakira’s music is because of the personal lyrics, this is more noticeable in the last few tracks. After her breakup, she seemingly decided to use her music as a means to vent her emotions. That’s when a lot of people started relating to it indirectly, pushing the Latin American singer ahead of all her music competitors. Recently, she addressed the people who do not like her lyrics.

Quite a few believe that her ex-boyfriend’s life has drastically changed after the diss track saga. That is because quite a bit of those lyrics are targeted straight at him, which has in turn garnered tons of criticism. In her own defence, Shakira said, “I am an artist and I have to express what I feel, how I feel, and sublimate those emotions”, as translated by DeepL.

“I just don’t have any other way to do it and that freedom of expression is non-negotiable”. Since the release of her first diss track with Bizarrap, Pique has mostly been on the wrong end of the public uproar. But there are few people who have blamed the Colombian icon for ‘publicizing’ sensitive details from her personal life.

Since the diss track controversy began, the former celebrity couple has been a talking point of many TV shows and podcasts. Last month, Spanish journalist Susanna Griso was quite critical of the way Shakira dealt with her breakup. Clearly not in favor of the Colombian icon, Griso quoted, “Hey, forgive me, but she seems like the only woman in the world who has separated, really”.

“She is partly to blame for making it so public, huh? I mean, No. It’s that. It really tires me”. In comparison to the fans that love the singer, such critical fans do not outweigh the fanbase by any means. The Waka–Waka singer will seemingly continue following her passion, despite popular opinion. In recent times, she was in London with David Stewart planning her next single after Copa Vacia.
