As usual, there comes a day when legendary players retire after having outstanding careers. Every season, fans shed tears for the departing player and appreciate his service to the game. This season, Swedan’s own Zlatan Ibrahimovic stepped away from the turf after announcing his retirement. The enigmatic journeyman striker was a vocal and charismatic soccer player who captured the hearts and minds of the soccer fraternity. Similarly, he had an unusual take on soccer that shocked the fans. Months back, he targeted Inter Miami’s latest star, Lionel Messi.
After Messi lifted the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, many sports stars and celebrities acknowledged the diminutive Argentinian for his efforts. Out of those people, Zlatan congratulated him and appreciated his greatness. But the following statement he made raised a few eyebrows. He explained how the rest of the Argentinian players would probably fail to win anything in their careers.

In the interview, he explained, “Messi is considered the best in history and he will be remembered for winning the World Cup in Qatar, but I am worried about the other players in Argentina, because they are not going to win anything else.” It became controversial because he downplayed the players who made a difference to the team. But those rumors subsided after West Ham United won the UEFA Europa Conference League. One of the Argentinian players in the squad was Manuel Lanzini.

Although he never played in the 2022 World Cup, Lanzini’s experience of being Messi’s teammate is worth a shout. According to West Ham’s website, Lanzini stated, “It is a double satisfaction [to be called-up and working alongside Messi]. He is the best player in the world and we are lucky as he is Argentinian. We need to take advantage of this.” Although he didn’t play in the final of the Conference League, he has provided the club with some of their best moments.
He played alongside Messi and made his debut playing alongside the Argentinian. Technically sound and possessing a top-notch appetite for soccer, he is one of the finest players in the club. But is he the only Argentinian to win trophies?
Which Argentinian players have won trophies this season?
Speaking of other Argentinian players, Manchester United’s Lisandro Martinez won the Carabao Cup to end the club’s trophyless years. Likewise, Manchester City’s Julian Alvarez has already won the English Premier League and the FA Cup. If the club wins its first UEFA Champions League, it would personally be a milestone for the rising Argentinian superstar. He would win a treble with the World Cup. You can hardly count the number of people who managed that.
