Former PSG Superstar Questions the Club Giving More Authority to Kylian Mbappe Over ‘The Best’ Lionel Messi

World Cup winner with Argentina and former PSG star has questioned the French club’s special treatment for Kylian Mbappe. He thinks despite having the best player of all time, Lionel Messi, on the team, giving more power to the French forward is surprising.

PSG star Kylian Mbappe was at the center of transfer news in the summer. Real Madrid pushed hard for the French forward. However, PSG was reluctant to give up and ended up giving a blockbuster three-year contract extension to the World Cup winner. The new contract reportedly gives the French superstar more authority at the club. 

Angel Di Maria questions PSG over treating Kylian Mbappe and Lionel Messi differently 

The Juventus forward, while speaking to ESPN Argentina, opened up on PSG, Mbappe, and Messi. He feels the club, France fans, and the President have given too much responsibility to the former AS Monaco starlet. Di Maria thinks Parisians, after making Mbappe stay at the club, gave more authority to the player despite having the GOAT Messi in the ranks.

Former PSG star said, “They made him stay when he could have left and gave him all the power to be him and no one else. But there’s a big difference. They gave him all that power with the best in history [Messi] next to him. I think they gave him all that power and strength because he’s French. He was born there, and won a World Cup.”

Di Maria played at PSG for seven seasons after completing a transfer from Manchester United in 2015. The Juventus star was a teammate to Mbappe for five seasons when the French forward made a big money move from AS Monaco to PSG in 2015. 

Although, the former Real Madrid player also praised the France international. He feels Mbappe was the second-best player at the Qatar World Cup behind Lionel Messi. Labeling him a good boy, Di Maria thinks the forward has an illustrious career ahead of him.

The former Manchester United star has played with some great soccer stars like Cristiano Ronaldo, Neymar Jr, and Lionel Messi. He comes from a country that has given two icons to the sport, Messi and Diego Maradona. However, Di Maria Messi is the GOAT as he now has won everything possible in soccer.

Meanwhile, the World Cup winner has a special place for Maradona in his heart. Maradona supported Di Maria in his difficult times on the field. For him, the late Argentine wizard will always hold a place, but for his generation, Messi is the greatest in history.
