After concluding the 2022–23 soccer calendar, domestic clubs around the world are making preparations for a fresh calendar year of soccer madness. Preseason games are taking over the on-field preparations, while the transfer window rules the off-field front. As teams worldwide bolster their squads, Gerard Pique and his soccer club are also making some bold moves.
Subsequently, after hanging up his boots, Pique has become an astute entrepreneur and businessman. For the uninitiated, the former FC Barcelona defender owns a Spanish soccer club, FC Andorra. Meanwhile, he recently endured major success with his own 7-a-side league. However, let’s dive deeper into his soccer club’s latest signing.

As teams around the world are signing players every day, Pique’s soccer team also made a major investment. Apparently, FC Andorra has signed Liverpool defender Anderson Arroyo. The 24-year-old defender has signed for La Liga’s second-division side on a long-term loan. Interestingly, this is Arroy’s seventh loan stint in six years.
Liverpool signed Arroyo in 2018 from Colombian side Fortaleza. Unfortunately, the defender became the forgotten man, as he didn’t make a single appearance for the Reds. The Premier League giants immediately sent him to Mallorca on an 18-month loan deal, where he played for the B team.

However, the deal was canceled soon, as he moved to the Belgian side Gent, where he made zero appearances. His further loan spells included a move to the Czech Republic’s Mlada Boleslav and Spain’s third-tier club Salamanca before he signed for the Spanish second division’s Mirandes.
Surprisingly, he even signed a contract extension for Liverpool until 2025, which again paved his way to play for Alaves last season. There, he made 22 appearances and helped his team secure promotion to La Liga. Now he’ll be playing for Andorra.

Why did he fail to make a single appearance for the Reds?
After enjoying a host of loan spells, Arroyo will now be playing for Pique’s Andorra for the 2023–24 campaign. However, the question that may be crossing your mind is why he never made a single appearance for Liverpool. Well, the reason is that the defender failed to get a work permit when he signed for Jurgen Klopp’s side.

Hence, Arroyo, who is a versatile defender and can play both as a center-back and a right-back, had to endure such loan spells. Be that as it may, it is unlikely he’ll be playing for Liverpool. As of now, he’ll be looking to make his mark on Pique’s soccer club and help them in all the ways he can.
