It has been an eventful few days for Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr since their arrival in Iran. While they are preparing to face Persepolis in the AFC Champions League clash, new developments about on and-off-the-pitch matters continue to unfold. Previously, Al Nassr was prohibited from utilizing internet services because of the strict regulations imposed in Iran. These local rules significantly constrained internet usage. It also banned various websites, including renowned social media platforms such as WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), Facebook, and Instagram.

Additionally, Persepolis’ President made an exceptional effort by urging Iran’s largest telecommunications company to offer Al Nassr players ‘special SIM cards’ that would allow them to access the internet. However, his rallying efforts were shut down by the Iranian Minister of Tourism, Ezzatollah Zarghami insisted that Ronaldo would not be given VIP treatment and would not be granted unlimited internet access.

Interestingly, the visitors have currently been granted unrestricted access to all websites and social media platforms for the duration of their stay in the country. As per Publico, with the courtesy of Irancell, Al Nassr will receive a dedicated SIM card enabling them to connect to the internet. Certainly, this comes as a major relief for Cristiano Ronaldo and Co. The whole team would be able to connect with their fans and loved ones through the social networks. As they are making the most of the complimentary SIM cards, they were forced to cancel their training.
