The Saudi Super Cup between Al Hilal and Al Nassr was a rollercoaster full of emotions. Jorge Jesus’ side dominated against their arch-rivals, as they won 2-1 against Luis Castro and Co. However, the main highlight of the match was Cristiano Ronaldo getting sent off. As the aftermath of the Riyadh Derby continues to make strides in the soccer world, questions loom as to how many matches he will miss due to this suspension.

The Knights of Najd’s dream to lift the trophy was shattered as they were knocked out by their arch-rivals. However, the upcoming fixtures may prove difficult, as Ronaldo may allegedly miss them. This information comes from reports suggested by the X account @9NFCBALL, which claim that due to these antics, the 39-year-old has received a one-match ban. Additionally, the disciplinary committee of the tournament might extend the ban to another match for his disgraceful behavior. So, when can we expect him back?

Ronaldo is allegedly expected to make a return next month. The striker will be missing the next two Roshn Saudi League fixtures against Al Feiha and Al Khaleej. It is expected that the former Real Madrid star can feature in the King’s Cup semi-finals on Wednesday, May 1st, against the same rivals, Al-Khaleej. Certainly, his absence would come across as a huge blow for Castro. Already, they have lost their chance to lift the Super Cup, and they are 12 points behind Al Hilal in the league table.

This certainly builds up the pressure on Castro and Co. even more. Nevertheless, for now, they must be reeling from the poor loss and Ronaldo’s suspension. Speaking of which, how did that happen?

A quick recap of how everything went south for Cristiano Ronaldo and Al Nassr

Al Nassr kept their heavy foot in the match as they had opened their account twice. However, VAR intervention denied all of their efforts. As the first half ended in a stalemate, Al Hilal drew first blood with the help of Salem Aldawsari. Minutes later, Malcom doubled the Blues Waves’ lead. Unfortunately, Ronaldo, who was already on a yellow card as he argued over the denied goal, received a straight red.

Tension flared as the skipper got involved in a physical altercation with Al Hilal’s Ali Albulayhi. However, despite being 10 men down, Al Nassr managed to finally find the back of the net in injury time, thanks to Sadio Mane. Unfortunately, time didn’t let Castro and Co. find an equalizer as they flew back empty-handed. Meanwhile, Al Hilal has booked their place in the finals and will face Al Ittihad on April 11.
