Ever since Lionel Messi joined the MLS, there has been a massive increase in sponsorships. Soccer culture in America is spreading rapidly since the 7x Ballon d’Or winner’s arrival but complaints about poor infrastructure and logistical arrangements are still looming. Touring Mexican clubs, over the last few weeks, have been complaining of poor organizing by the MLS.

The Liga MX clubs have found food and accommodation arrangements to be subpar and not up to professional standards. Tired of the continuous complaints, the Inter Miami coach hit back at the Mexican FA. Monterrey’s President, on behalf of the Mexican clubs, has given a strong rebuttal to Tata Martino.

Last night, Tato Noriega, the President of Monterrey, criticized the inadequate facilities, accommodations, and food arrangements for Liga MX clubs. His press conference was particularly aimed at Tata as he cited Mexican teams’ ill-treatment with an extremely valid example. Noriega even went on to state that even a tournament victory would not yield profits for Monterrey.

“Tata [Martino] does not know that yesterday when we arrived from Houston to Los Angeles, on a 4-hour trip, we expected to have a buffet in LA for the recovery of the players, with all the necessary elements the day after a game and you find yourself with food that is not ideal,” boldly said Tato.

It’s worth noting that Noriega’s angered statements surfaced just a couple of days after Tata Martino implied that Mexican clubs should have taken this into account beforehand. This was before they chose to express their complaints at this juncture.

Throwback to when Lionel Messi & Co’s gaffer defended Leagues Cup allegations

Four days ago, Tata Martino lost his cool on questions over the supposed plight of Liga MX clubs. The Inter Miami gaffer drew parallels between the Leagues Cup and CONCACAF’s ‘MLS to Liga MX’. He said that all the logistics and business details had already been discussed before the tournament. Martino also recalled that the decisions were taken solely by CONCACAF on the mutual agreement. And so, Mexican clubs complaining at this stage is futile, opined Leo Messi’s boss.

“We are going to have a tournament, but we do it the way we want, and whoever wants to come and play should do it, and whoever does not, should not. In Concacaf, they made a tournament, called MLS to Liga MX. They sat down, they saw how the tournament was going to be, how much money they were going to earn, how the business was, because we forget that the business was liked by everyone and then come the protests,”said the Argentine.

Inter Miami will be hunting for silverware this season, as they focus their gaze on the Leagues Cup semi-final.
