Cristiano Ronaldo has changed the course of this year’s summer transfer window. The legendary player unapologetically moved to Saudi Arabia and signed for Al Nassr. Since then, it has all been Middle Eastern clubs trying to lure other stars like him. While many are slamming the Gulf country’s takeover of soccer, one renowned figure has backed the mass exodus.
Today’s soccer headlines are filled with soccer stars making a potential switch to a foreign league. In fact, a considerable number have already joined the domestic ranks of CR7. Likewise, Ronaldo recently made a huge claim about the MLS. Moreover, one of his fanatics joined the soccer world to react to his words.

While renowned stars continue to switch from Europe in favor of the Gulf country, Ronaldo took the chance to address the situation. The striker recently spoke about the transfer mayhem he has created following his move. Surprisingly, he even made some audacious claims by comparing the MLS with the Saudi Pro League.
As tweeted by transfer guru Fabrizio Romano, the 38-year-old said, “Saudi League is better than MLS. I’m 100% sure I won’t return to any European club. I opened the way to Saudi league… and now all the players are coming here”. While making his intentions clear on a possible return to Europe, the skipper believes that the Saudi League is much better than the American League.
Apparently, his words have sent shockwaves to the soccer world, which has taken over Twitter. In fact, it also led the famous British broadcaster Piers Morgan to give his verdict.

Not hard 😭😭
The truth is that MLS is a small irrelevant league which suits "talents" like Lionel Messi very well.
The future of football where the most talented and ambitious footballers are flocking to is Saudi.
CR7 is a trailblazer.

I’m a messi fan but he didn’t lie. Saudi league is clear of MLS and he paved the way for other top players to join saudi
— indispensable David (@davidchibuike_) July 17, 2023
However, a few fans backed the Lionel Messi-joined league, who believe that the MLS is way ahead of the Saudi Pro League.

Lol, more please will be watching the mls than the Saudi league

I suspect the actual draw for other players to the Saudi League is more likely to be the money….
Lol

Oh really, Cristiano? The Saudi league is better than MLS? That's like saying Burger King is better than a Michelin-starred restaurant. Nice try though. 🍔🌟

He thinks he is the reason the players are going there 💀
— Murph (@NUFCMurph) July 17, 2023
MLS will always be better.

Indeed, these are quite a few responses from the soccer fraternity as well as from Morgan, who somehow backed his favorite soccer player. However, the majority of fans are not happy with the migration of players to the Middle East.
Is Saudi Arabia better than the MLS?

Earlier, if a player thought of leaving Europe for a rather new challenge, then the MLS used to be the number one priority. On the other hand, going to the South American Leagues or the Gulf Leagues was the last thing on the player’s mind. However, with a gradual shift in the transfer paradigm, the MLS seems to have fallen out of favor. This is largely due to the dominance of the Saudi Pro League.
Certainly, Ronaldo’s move to Al Nassr was just a matchstick that ignited the fire of the transfer mayhem. Surprisingly, it was Lionel Messi who tried to extinguish Saudi’s efforts at utter dominance by choosing to move to the MLS. However, many still fancy a move to the deserts. Of course, huge pockets are the main reason behind it. Perhaps it is too early to say “Saudi Pro League > MLS”, yet things are starting to move in favor of the Middle East.
