Inter Miami may have started its campaign with a goal, but not without a bit of spice. Club captain, Lionel Messi, has been very active in the opening game of the season and was not willing to hold back his play. In one such incident, the Argentine showed his insane dribbling skills. Messi, fighting for the ball, skipped two opponents and then lobbed the ball over an opponent who was lying on the ground! This has led to fans erupting with emotions on social media.
It triggered a wide range of responses. A fan felt that he was moving it over a dead body!

On the other hand, this fan showed dissent with what La Pulga had done. Dribbling past an injured player didn’t seem right. If he were the referee, Lionel Messi would have been sent off!
Resuming play when opponent is injured is disgusting and unsportmanlike.
If I was the referee Messi would have gotten sent off

While most of the fan reactions were positive and jaw-dropped ones, the MLS opener suffered a referee crisis with VAR not being available. But would the presence of VAR make a difference to this dribble? Whether the PRSA referees would have called the play to a halt or not is another question, but all that’s going around is Miami’s win.
