Despite failing to win the EFL League Two title, the season will go down in Wrexham AFC’s history books. The Welsh club has achieved the immense feat of achieving back-to-back promotions. As a result, the Red Dragons will be playing in the EFL League One next season. Celebrations are aplenty at the Welsh club but they still have a match against Stockport County left in the campaign. And it seems, Stockport supporters won’t be extending warm greetings to Ryan Reynolds’ side on April 27th.
Recent footage released on X shows Stockport fans making explicit chants aimed at Wrexham. A large group of fans are involved and hence not everything is audible. But, the chant “F**k You Wrexham“, rings clearly. While not much is known regarding the intention behind these chants, it could be that the supporters are reminding Wrexham of who had the better season.

The Hollywood ending did not come true for Ryan Reynolds’ side. When Stockport beat Notts County 5-2 last week, it ended the slim hope that Wrexham had of becoming champions and they secured the title themselves. The Red Dragons are still battling for 2nd place with Mansfield Town but unlike other divisions, the top 3 get promotion in League Two. Hence, the final standing won’t affect the promotion for the Welsh club.
Although the title is gone, Wrexham has plenty to play for against Stockport County. If things go according to plan, Phil Parkinson’s side will break a major League Two record.
Wrexham is on the verge of breaking a 6-year-old record
Wrexham’s home record has been imperative with just 3 losses in 22 matches. As such, the club is on the verge of becoming the League Two side with the most home goals. Currently, Parkinson’s side has plundered 60 goals at STōK Cae Ras. If they manage to add 3 more to the tally, they will be able to beat current record holders Luton Town (62). Speaking of Luton Town, coach Phil Parkinson is hopeful that Wrexham will have a similar trajectory to the Premier League club.

A few days ago, Parkinson hinted that more promotions could be on the way for Wrexham AFC. He said, “Last year when we got promotion I felt there were a lot more chapters to be written,” “I firmly believe that’s still [the case] now.” But the journey won’t be easy and the club has been warned that their spending won’t be sufficient in higher divisions of English soccer. However, as we have learned over the last 2 years, with Reynolds and Rob Mcelhenney at the helm, impossible is nothing.
