With the backdrop of their club’s remarkable resilience, the third episode of Welcome to Wrexham‘s second season offered an unexpected twist. Rob McElhenney took center stage to address the critics and haters who had taken aim at Wrexham’s struggle for survival.
McElhenney acknowledged the inherent tribalism in sports, where rival fans often relish the misfortunes of others. He said, “Sports is so tribal in nature that you’re gonna have supporters of other clubs looking at this club and wanting to cut us down at every turn, simply in support of their own club.”

However, it was his unapologetic defiance that truly resonated. He added, “Then of course, there are also cynics out there and people who just hear the story, and they’re just sort of cynical without really looking into it. They can f**k all the way off!”
McElhenney’s comments are a clear message to Wrexham haters that he and Reynolds are not going to be deterred by their negativity. The pair are committed to turning Wrexham into a successful club, and they are not afraid to stand up to their critics.

With the club gaining promotion to EFL League Two this season after their heroics in the National League, the ownership of the Hollywood Duo has provided significant improvements. As Ryan and Rob stepped up to shell out money from their own pockets to oversee the development of Wrexham’s stadium, it seems pretty sure that they’re serious about this project.
