What comes to mind when you hear AFC Richmond? Richmond is a fictional Premier League club from the famous American Drama series Ted Lasso. The club and its merchandise have become famous after the series’ three seasons. It has a separate fanbase all over the world. USWNT star Alex Morgan is no exception to it.

The first season of the sports drama series came in August 2020, with ten episodes. A year after, they released the second season in July 2021. Ted Lasso saw its third season released this month and will have 12 episodes.
The audience received it well, and the character Ted Lasso has become famous since its release. Morgan recently shared on social media the gift she received from AFC Richmond, the fictional club by Ted Lasso.
Alex Morgan receives a unique gift
Alex Morgan has taken to Instagram to share the unique gift she received after playing her first game of the NWSL season. She captioned it, “Finally got this seasons merch.” The present was none other than Ted Lasso’s fictional club AFC Richmond’s merchandise for the new season.
Ted Lasso’s third season’s first episode was released on the 15 of this month. Every fan of the series wants their hand on the new merchandise, and the USWNT star was lucky enough to get the merchandise after scoring a winning penalty for San Diego Wave FC against Chicago Red Stars.
Wave took on Red Stars in their opening game of the season at Snapdragon Stadium last weekend. The game saw record attendance on the opening day of the NWSL. A total of 30,854 fans were in the stadium for the game.
San Diego Wave also holds a record for the most attendance for the NWSL game. They set the record last year in September when they sold out the 32000-capacity stadium for the game against Angel City FC.
NWSL season kicks off

The 2023 season of NWSL kicked off with a game between North Carolina Courage and Kansas City Current. Courage beat Current by 1-0 thanks to a 23rd-minute strike from Mille Gejl. The second game saw a penalty from Alex Morgan giving San Diego Wave a 3-2 win over Chicago Red Stars.
In other games, Washington Spirit beat OL Reign 1-0 at home. The reigning champions, Portland Thorns, made a statement on the opening matchday of NWSL. They thumped Orlando Pride 4-0 at home in their season opener. Houston Dash and Racing Louisville played out a 0-0 draw, whereas Gotham NJ/NY Gotham FC beat Angel City FC on their home ground to round off the matchday one.
