After concluding a very controversial World Cup in Qatar, FIFA is already on the crosshair for the upcoming Women’s World Cup. The Men’s World Cup saw a lot of backlash because of many reasons. There was the issue of exploitation of human rights in the country.

The super harsh LGBTQ+ laws also saw a surge of voices against the tournament and the organizers. It got so bad that FIFA president Gianni Infantino had to come out and give a speech to reconcile the protests. That speech, however, became a topic of ridicule for him.

Organizing a mega tournament like the World Cup needs a lot of nuances and there are always voices that need to be heard, whether it’s fans, players, or former names from the game. FIFA has been losing support, even before the opening ceremony of the Qatar World Cup.

Many singers, including Shakira, refused to perform because of the concerns that had rendered the tournament controversial. However, when the matches started, fans excited to see their team play muted the voices shouting at FIFA.

FIFA facing backlash, yet again!

FIFA has appointed Brazilian supermodel Adriana Lima as the first-ever global fan ambassador. This move that FIFA just cooked up hasn’t sat well with the community.

Along with sharing the official announcement. Lima posted a picture with FIFA boss Infantino talking about being a fan and part of the org. She wrote, “As a true ‘brasileira’, futebol is in my blood! It is a great honor to be part of the FIFA Family, the FIFAMILY as we call it! As a fan myself, I hope to connect at a greater level this family to the life of this beautiful sport: the fans! Welcome to FIFAN“.

This news has been spreading in the community like wildfire. With World Cup right around the doorstep, this decision by FIFA according to the backlash is questionable to say the least. While there hasn’t been any statement on FIFA addressing the chaos, the appointment has caused there a few names that have fired some serious shots directly at the org.

The most effective shots at FIFA came from a former Australian soccer player and now a soccer official. Moya Dodd has posted some big shots for Infantino to look at. While questioning the reasoning behind this appointment right before the FIFA Women’s World Cup. She asked if a Brazilian Supermodel is the ambassador fans would want.
