The FIFA Club World Cup this year has brought excitement to many fans. It is a knockout tournament where every club in the world can take part. Hence, to increase the excitement the soccer organization has decided to make changes to the 2025 edition of the tournament that will be held in the USA. They have announced that there is a change to the name of the tournament. The dates of the tournament have also been confirmed.

FIFA announced mega changes for the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup

The breaking news is the fans can no longer call the tournament as Club World Cup in the 2025 edition. This is because of one of the changes, FIFA in their recent meeting held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, has announced the new name of the competition. It will be now Mundial de Clubes FIFA . This competition will also feature one club from each of the six confederations. All these changes will become effective from the 2025 edition. To increase the excitement, the soccer organization has confirmed the dates.  It will be organized from 15 June to 13 July 2025.

This will also be the first 32-team Club World Cup. FIFA has also given the reason behind the decision to shift the tournament to June. They feel that this schedule gives a sufficient amount of break to players between the competition and their respective leagues. This will also provide a three-day break to the players between the matches. It is done for the welfare of all the players participating in the competition.

This finally means that the clubs will not have to travel to play in competition mid-season from 2025. Speaking of the Club World Cup, FIFA has also announced a revised format for the 2025 edition.

The Club World Cup will have a different format from previous editions

FIFA has announced that there will be eight groups of four teams per group. The teams in the group will play each other once in a round-robin match. After these matches, the top 2 teams in their respective groups to the round of 16. They have also announced that there will be a knockout stage style from the round of 16. The organization has also confirmed that there will be no third-place play-off games.

FIFA is doing its best to make the 32-team tournament a fast-paced tournament. They have also announced that the host of the tournament which is the USA will have one more team in their tournament. They have confirmed that the announcement will be made in due time.
