Building a squad that fits different leagues can be challenging when trying to return to winning ways. Therefore, Wrexham is loosening its strings. They want to get back-to-back promotions and eyes for a busy transfer window. Although manager Phil Parkinson explained how not having any serious surgeries for the squad, they still require players. After Gareth Bale’s rejection, the club was handed another blow to their blueprint. 

After looking to bring Bolton Wanderers defender George Johnston to the Welsh town, the player suffered an injury and could face a lengthy spell on the sidelines. Bolstering the club’s defense would be crucial to stay up. They leaked goals in the last campaign and this cannot happen in the EFL League Two. Thus, their plans are derailed. 

Wrexham target suffers a potentially devastating injury

The defender suffered an injury when the game was about to break for half as the physios carried him off the pitch. Fans saw him leave the stadium with a knee brace, and he will face scans to assess further knee damage. According to the Bolton News, the manager stated, “There is no assessment we can make right now but the mechanism of the injury does not look good. We will have to see but at the moment we are fearing the worst.”

Considering the clubs are playing pre-season friendlies, injuries happen to many players. But now, Ryan Reynolds would need to reassess their options and take a call on whether they need to sign him for the club. Wrexham is determined to improve their squad. Jumping into higher leagues would need more quality players to fix the situation. Therefore, this comes as the latest blow to the troop.

It happens after missing out on Gareth Bale in the transfer window. Although they remain an attractive proposition, Bale rejected the offers to join the club.

But then Bale claimed that he never wanted to join the club and is now focused on other ventures. The player loves golf and wants to carry forward with the sport. Thus, with a host of players in the market, Wrexham can reassess their options and go for other players. They convinced Ben Foster to come out of retirement. Surely, there are other targets they can go to. Hopefully, the club can get their signings done!
