After the recent National League victory, it looks like the only way moving forward for Wrexham AFC is upward. This has been the case ever since the Hollywood takeover by Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney. After years of mediocrity, they have injected new life into it leading the team to victory in the National League and promotion to EFL League Two.

This success has been attributed to the changes implemented by the Hollywood duo, most notably, their signings of big-name players. With promotion to EFL League Two secured, it is clear that Wrexham is aiming even higher. It seems like Ryan Reynolds is looking to make more impactful decisions to solidify its team.

Making a strong team seems to be the major aim for the team going into League Two. The team recently got their star goalkeeper Ben Foster to sign a one-year contract extension. Now the team is looking to solidify its midfield and Wigan Athletic midfielder Max Power tops their list of transfer targets.

Reports indicate that Wrexham has expressed interest in signing Power for the upcoming season. Power’s inclusion in Wrexham’s midfield would be a game-changer due to his experience in the Championship, two tiers above League Two in the English soccer league hierarchy.

Last season, Power made 45 appearances in the Championship. This experience would make him a valuable asset to Wrexham as they prepare for the challenges of League Two. In addition to Power’s experience, the midfielder is familiar with Wrexham manager, Phil Parkinson. Power played under Parkinson at Sunderland and could potentially use this working relationship to accelerate his integration into the Wrexham team seamlessly.

This potential signing is already sounding like an interesting prospect for Wrexham fans. However, there are some intriguing facts regarding Power’s family that many people are unaware of. His father was previously imprisoned for inciting violence against Wrexham fans.

Max Power’s father doesn’t have a good history with the club

In September 2003, 32 individuals were arrested for orchestrating violent clashes following a soccer match between Birkenhead United AFC and Wrexham AFC. These hooligans utilized phones to coordinate two physical altercations in succession. One on a train packed with shoppers, elderly individuals, and children, and another in the streets with Wrexham fans.

Also, it’s worth noting that Carl Power, father of Max Power, was included among these hooligans. The police subsequently apprehended them and sentenced Carl to fifteen months’ incarceration. Almost twenty years later, it appears that Max Power may play for the same Wrexham team against whose supporters his father fought.
